Henry Fowler has bought an old country house out in rural Vermont where he takes care of his elderly, Alzheimer's-stricken mother. One night, he's startled awake, and goes to check on Claire, his mother. She's not in bed and when he descends to the first floor he hears a strange wheezing sound come from the darkened dining room.
